The dermatological visit includes collecting the patient’s history (anamnesis) and examining skin manifestations (clinical examination), with photographic documentation if needed.
When possible the doctor removes the lesion immediately or, alternatively, prescribes targeted therapy.
For Allergic Contact Dermatitis the dermatologist performs allergy tests (Patch Test).
Structure, shape, color, size of moles and changes over time are assessed for prevention and monitoring, using optical and/or digital epiluminescence dermoscopy.
Dermoscopy (“Epiluminescence Dermoscopy” or “Mole Mapping”) is a quick, non-invasive method to monitor moles and other skin lesions over time.
It is essential in preventing malignant tumors such as melanoma arising from moles.
The dermatoscope eliminates light reflected by the stratum corneum (epiluminescence), allowing visualization of skin structures not visible to the naked eye.
It may be optical or digital, enabling image comparison over time.
We use only Heine and Dermlite optics, top of the range in Dermatology.
Also called Dermatological Cryotherapy, used to treat warts, condylomas, seborrheic keratoses, actinic keratoses (which may become malignant) and other lesions.
Liquid nitrogen causes a “cold burn” that destroys unwanted cells by thermal shock.
It is a “physical therapy” that destroys pathological tissue.
Liquid nitrogen (−196 °C) is applied to the lesion until slight freezing and removal.
The session is very short and relatively painless.
Side effects are mild and temporary.
Children under 6 years of age; cold hypersensitivity, arteriopathy, Raynaud’s disease. Other case-specific contraindications noted by the doctor.
Redness and slight swelling in the treated area lasting a few hours. Possible appearance of small serous or serosanguineous blisters that become crusts which must not be altered or removed. For prophylactic purposes, an antibiotic cream is often suggested and the treated area should be protected for a few days, as advised by the doctor.

When needed and at short notice, our dermatologists perform minor outpatient procedures under local anesthesia.
Samples are sent to specialized external labs for histology or further tests. Results are shared with the patient very quickly.
Outpatient procedures may be functional or purely aesthetic (the latter are generally not provided by the public health service).

We perform Patch tests to identify the most common substances (Haptens) that cause Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD): an inflammatory immune response of the skin.
Substances most often involved in ACD are: nickel, chromium, latex, soaps or detergents, ointment or topical drug components, plants (e.g. poison ivy).
We perform tests according to the SIDAPA 2016 series (28 haptens), EXTENDED SIDAPA (40 Haptens) and other specialist series: hairdressers, cosmetics, rubber, lips, photo-haptens, dentists, eyelids, orthopedic prostheses, tattoos and metals.

Dennis Linder, born in Milan in 1955, graduated in mathematics in 1979 from ETH Zurich. He later graduated in Medicine in Innsbruck and, after specializing in dermatology and venereology, obtained his habilitation at the Medical University of Graz (Austria), where he still teaches.
He was a professor at the university dermatology clinic in Padua and since 2018 has been adjunct professor of dermatology at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva (Israel). He focuses on psychosocial and psychosomatic aspects of skin disease (former president of the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry) and holds the title “Psychosomatic Specialist” from the International College of Psychosomatic Medicine.
He is on the editorial board of the high-impact Scandinavian journal Acta Dermato-Venereologica.
He has about one hundred peer-reviewed scientific publications.
He speaks Italian, German, French and English fluently, and has a fair knowledge of Russian.
His main interests are general clinical dermatology, cutaneous manifestations of internal diseases, inflammatory dermatoses (psoriasis, atopic dermatitis) and skin neoplasms (nevi, melanomas).
