Private General Medicine in Pordenone and Conegliano

Medical visits at the Centre and at home

At the Nutrizione Prevenzione Medical Centre it is possible to book private General Medicine visits (also known as GP visits), at our Pordenone and Conegliano locations and, on request and subject to availability, also at home.

The service is aimed at anyone who needs a medical assessment for a health issue, an acute complaint, a general check-up, a “second opinion” and, temporarily, also for people who are having difficulty contacting or reaching their family doctor or GP.

The private General Medicine service cannot replace the ongoing relationship with your own GP, but it can provide additional medical support when you need a clinical assessment and your own doctor is not available or easy to reach at that time.

General Medicine

A private medical visit can be useful when a health issue appears that needs an initial medical assessment, without it yet being clear which specialist to see.

It can be requested, for example, for:

  • fever, flu-like symptoms and general malaise;
  • cough, sore throat and respiratory complaints;
  • gastrointestinal issues;
  • muscle or joint pain;
  • headache, fatigue or other recently appeared symptoms;
  • changes in blood pressure;
  • review of laboratory tests or other results already carried out;
  • review of ongoing therapies;
  • new symptoms that need an initial assessment;
  • a general health check-up, including a “second opinion”;
  • needing a medical visit when your family doctor is temporarily unreachable;
  • urgent need for a prescription (see below for more information).

During the visit, the doctor takes a clinical history, assesses symptoms, carries out a physical examination and takes into account any existing conditions, therapies and test results.

Based on the clinical assessment, the doctor may indicate any further diagnostic tests needed or the need for a subsequent specialist evaluation.

PLEASE NOTE: Not all medicines can be prescribed under private care. Medicines prescribed privately are always at the patient's own expense.

It can happen that you need a medical assessment at a time when you are having difficulty reaching your own GP, for example due to personal circumstances, periods of absence or other temporary access difficulties.

In these situations, at Nutrizione Prevenzione it is possible to request a private medical visit, at the Centre or, when available, at home.

The doctor assesses the immediate problem and provides appropriate guidance based on the clinical picture found.

The service is designed as temporary, complementary support and does not replace the ongoing relationship with your own GP.

It is not always easy to know which specialist to see when a symptom appears.

General Medicine can provide a first level of clinical assessment: the doctor evaluates the problem and decides whether medical management is appropriate, whether further tests are needed, or whether to refer you to a specialist.

Within the Nutrizione Prevenzione Medical Centre, when appropriate, the assessment can be complemented by the other medical and healthcare expertise available at the Centre.

The doctor comes directly to the patient's home

By appointment and subject to the doctor's availability, a private home doctor visit service is also available.

A home visit can be particularly useful for elderly people, patients with limited mobility, or anyone who, due to their health condition, finds it difficult to reach the Centre.

It can also be an option when a medical assessment is needed and it is difficult to access your own GP.

During the home visit, the doctor takes a clinical history, assesses symptoms and carries out whatever physical examination is possible in a home setting, indicating any further steps needed.

The private medical visit service, whether at the Centre or at home, is not an emergency service. If serious symptoms occur or a condition requires immediate assistance, please contact emergency services.

General Medicine is not only about managing acute complaints.

A visit can also be an opportunity for a general health check-up, to review the main risk factors and to consider, based on age, personal and family history and clinical conditions, which preventive measures may be appropriate.

Prevention does not mean carrying out a large number of tests indiscriminately, but identifying the ones that are appropriate for each individual, based on the available scientific evidence.

When the visit reveals an issue that requires specific expertise, the patient can be referred to the most appropriate professional.

The presence of different disciplines within Nutrizione Prevenzione allows General Medicine to be complemented, when necessary, by Internal Medicine, Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition, Allergology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Psychology and Psychotherapy and the Centre's other areas of expertise.

The goal is to offer the patient a coordinated care pathway, starting from an assessment of the person and then identifying the further steps that are genuinely necessary.
